22 Days Uganda Birds & Wildlife Adventure

Day 1: arrival
Meet and greet our company representative on arrival at Entebbe International airport. Transfer to Sheraton Hotel/Cassia Lodge/ Excellent hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Kampala City Tour
Today after breakfast visit the Uganda Museum, the parliament, the Kasubi tombs, Bahai temple, Namugongo Martyrs’ shrine and Kabaka’s lake. Have a lunch stop over in between. Return to Sheraton Hotel/Cassia Lodge/ Excellent hotel for dinner and overnight

Day 3: Transfer to Mabira Eco-tourism site
You will leave Kampala fro Mabira forest after breakfast. On arrival have a briefing session with a park official followed by a guided forest walk. View monkeys and various bird species such as Great Blue Turaco and the Black and White casqued hornbill, Greenbul, Tinker birds, African Grey, African Emerald Cuckoo, Black and the Yellow bill cuckoos among others. Enjoy lunch at the forest’s picnic site. Transfer to Jinja Nile resort/ Nile anchor Palace/ Nile explorer’s Camp for dinner and overnight

Day 4: source of the Nile and Bujagali falls
After breakfast visit the source of river Nile. Proceed to Bujagali falls for a white water rafting session. A thrilling adventure enjoyed on Grade 5 rapids. In the evening return to Kampala. Dinner and overnight at Sheraton Hotel/Cassia Lodge/ Excellent hotel

Day 5: Transfer to Murchison Falls
After breakfast in your Kampala hotel, drive along the Kampala-Gulu highway. Journey past the famous Luweero triangle which was once a notorious battle ground in the 1980s. Have lunch at the Masindi Hotel. Continue to the Murchison falls national park and on arrival hike to the top of the falls. Dinner and overnight at Red Chilli camp/Sambiya River Lodge/ Chobe Safari lodge.

Day 6: Game Drive and Launch Cruise
After breakfast have a game drive on the northern banks of the park. You may encounter buffalo, kob, Jackson’s Hartebeest, waterbuck, baboon, lion and oribi. After lunch enjoy a launch cruise to the base of the falls. View hundreds of hippos, Nile crocodiles and other wildlife that come to the river to drink. Birds are in plenty and include: the African Jacana, piac piac, rock pranticole, shoe bill and many more. Dinner and overnight at Red Chilli camp/Sambiya River Lodge/ Chobe Safari lodge.

Day 7: Chimp Tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi
After breakfast drive to Kaniyo Pabidi forest to track chimpanzees and other primates. You may encounter olive baboon, blue monkey and black and white colobus on this walk. Have an opportunity to view some bird species like: little greenbul, common shrike – fly catcher, forest sunbirds and hornbills. Return to the park for lunch. In the evening enjoy a game drive in the park on the northern banks of the park. Dinner and overnight at Red Chilli camp/Sambiya River Lodge/ Chobe Safari lodge.

Day 8: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast leave Murchison falls national park. Transfer to fort portal having lunch enroute. Dinner and overnight at Primate lodge/Chimp’s Nest/ chimpanzee Guest house

Day 9: Chimp Tracking
Report to the park headquarters after breakfast for briefing on chimp tracker’s code of conduct. You will then be led by a ranger guide into the forest. If you are early enough you will witness the chimpanzees denesting. Enjoy other diurnal primates like grey cheeked mangabey and red tailed monkey. After lunch have an optional walk in /Bigodi swamp. Dinner and overnight at Primate lodge/Chimp’s Nest/ chimpanzee Guest house

Day 10: Night Game Drive in Semliki National Park
Leave Kibale after breakfast and transfer to Semliki national park. This is the only national park in Uganda where you can go for a night drive to view several cats, minuscule genet, white tailed mongoose and slim mongoose. After dinner, go on a night drive. This game drive will yield the nocturnal wildlife which is rarely seen during the day. Overnight at Semliki Safari Lodge.

Day 11: Birding Boat Trip on Lake Albert
After breakfast, have a boat trip on Lake Albert with your packed lunch to see colonies of Red-throated bee-eaters dart, Spot-breasted Ibis, Hartlaub’s Duck, Chestnut-flanked Goshawk, Red-thighed Sparrow hawk, Long-tailed Hawk, Forest Francolin, Nkulengu Rail, Western Bronze-napped Pigeon, Black-collared Lovebird, and many others. Have lunch at the waterfalls which provide a great picnic spot. Have views of several fishing villages along the way, and a visit at the tribal community at the foothills of the Rwenzori, where the locals look forward to welcoming and entertaining visitors. Return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation. Overnight at Semliki Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 12: To Sempaya Hotsprings then Fort portal
You will have a morning drive to Sempaya hot springs. The hot spring is dominated by a boiling geyser which spurts up to 2m-high from a white, iced cake-like base of precipitated mineral. The more inner spring is reached by a 30minute trail that lead through beautiful palm forest before crossing the swamp on a boardwalk. After, head for Fort Portal to visit the Kings Royal Mparo Tombs and various ethnic groups and Villages around. A memorable visit will be to the Burungu community and overnight at Ndaali lodge/ Rwenzori View Guest house /Primate Lodge Cottages.

Day 13: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park after breakfast. Have a game drive as you enter the park. You may view, buffalo, wildebeest, Lion, topi and Uganda kob. After lunch have a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel. You may see hippos, crocodiles and other bird and wildlife on this trip. Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge/Kingfisher safari camp/Mweya hostel.

Day 14: Game Drives and Katwe Salt Works
After a cup of coffee embark on an early morning game drive along Kasenyi tracks and Queen’s mile in the park. You will see lions, elephants, cape buffalos, warthogs, spotted hyenas, mongoose, waterbucks, Kobs and many more. After lunch, drive to Katwe salt works on lake Katwe. Witness manual salt mining - a very interesting process. An onsite guide will explain the whole process. Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge/Kingfisher safari camp/Mweya hostel.

Day 15: Transfer to Bwindi
After breakfast enjoy another game drive in the park. After lunch, transfer to Bwindi national park. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla forest camp/Buhoma homestead/Buhoma community Bandas.

Day 16: Gorilla Tracking                                                            
Report to Buhoma park headquarters after breakfast; for briefing.   A ranger guide will brief you on expected gorilla tracker’s code of conduct. You will then be led into the thick forest to track mountain gorillas. Enjoy other resident forest primates on this trek. When you locate the gorillas, spend an hour with them then return to your lodge.  Dinner and overnight at Gorilla forest camp/Buhoma homestead/Buhoma community Bandas.

Day 17: to Lake Bunyonyi
Leave Bwindi after breakfast then drive to Kabale ‘the Switzerland of Africa’. Tour the islands of Bunyonyi on a boat ride. Have a community walk and study the Batwa pygmies’ lifestyle Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi Safari Resort/ Lake Bunyonyi Overland Camp.

Day 18:  Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast leave the Bunyonyi area and drive to Lake Mburo national park in Kiruhura district. Have a lunch stop over enroute. Enjoy an evening game drive in the park on arrival. Dinner and overnight at Mihingo lodge/Arcadia cottages/Rwonyo campsite

Day 19: Game Drives and Boat Ride
Morning drive in the park after breakfast will expose you to some of the parks wildlife like impala, Burchell’s zebra, common duikers, buffalo, eland, topi and roan antelopes. After lunch have a boat ride on Lake Mburo. View different marine life and other wildlife that come to drink from the lake. Possible sites may include: crocodiles, hippopotamuses and birds such as Cormorant, Black Crake, Heron, Pelicans, and Fish Eagle among others. Dinner and overnight at Mihingo lodge/Arcadia cottages/Rwonyo campsite

Day 20: Salt lick and transfer to Kampala
Observe the salt lick from an observation wooden platform at the park after having breakfast. Watch at least 4 different animal species as they lick the salty soil. Leave the park and transfer back to Kampala with stop overs at the Kayabwe equator and royal drum makers for photos and souvenirs. Dinner and overnight at Sheraton Hotel/Cassia Lodge/ Excellent hotel

Day 21: Full day white water rafting on the Nile
After breakfast transfer to Bujagali falls. Enjoy a full day of white water rafting on the Nile. Experience 27 km of the best grade 5 rafting on the Nile ? a thrilling adventure. Watch out for "Total Gunga", "Big Brother", "Over Time" and the simply awesome "The Bad Place". Have the thrill of a lifetime - with your heart pumping; and your adrenalin flowing. This activity is perfect even without rafting experience   since all necessary safety precautions are taken. You are entitled to a huge BBQ after your rafting adventure! After your rafting experience transfer back to Kampala. Dinner and overnight at Sheraton Hotel/Cassia Lodge/ Excellent hotel

Day 22: Visit UWEC
After breakfast you will be transferred to Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, Entebbe. You will view different primates like the colobus monkey, olive monkey, Patas monkey, Vervet monkey, Grey checked monkey, Red-tailed monkey, baboon, Chimpanzee and others. You will also see different hoof stocks, reptiles, carnivores and a lot of birdlife. Have lunch at your hotel in Entebbe and relax while waiting for airport transfer to catch your flight back home.
